how does one attach drip lines to strap based suspension systems
Describe your webbing suspension. Most have cinch buckles or rings that act as the drip.
prsmith25 here,
I'm actually going to try one of those chip clips like they only sell at ikea that actually swings down and clamps down like a narrow clip. im going to put it on the straps tonight and and run it in the shower and see what happens.
cheers
I use a webbing only suspension- the drip strings (pieces of cotton shoelace) are tied around the webbing, closer to the hammock than the tree.
I'm fairly new to hanging and haven't been caught in the rain overnight yet, so this interests me. I take it the drip line is supposed to be inside the end of the tarp? Can I just tie a cotton shoelace to my whoopie sling as slugbait suggests? I have webbing to toggles, then whoopies to my gathered end hammock.
I'm wondering if one of those plastic clips on bread wrappers would work if clipped to the one or two amsteel lines that come off the hammock to the webbing buckles. If you put a ring at each end of you hammock and attach your webbing buckles to that, the ring will provide a drip stop. That is, I'm imagining your web buckles are on a continuous loop larks headed to the hammock. If you replace that with a larks headed ring, then attach the continuous loop the the ring, you'll have a drip stop. A lot more work than a shoestring. But it's a one time effort for a permanent solution and makes it easier if you want to play with different suspension systems (just attach them to the ring).

thanks for the help. does the red paracord girthed on really do the trick in a decent rain. im hanging this weekend, knock on wood, in the rain so i really want this to work.
thanks, prsmith25
If you twist your strap/webbing a few times before you put it around the tree, this helps stop drips before they get to your hammock. Shoe string is good too!
