Pics of my first project. I took a little different route on the bug netting. I created a tube that narrows at the ends, rather than sewing the netting to the edges of the hammock. The end openings will be cinched together using cord I carry in my pack.
I still have to add a velcro fastened opening on the side for entry and exit. The tube design allows the netting to be easily removed and I think will also provide some protection from bugs biting through the bottom of the hammock. I live in Alabama so summertime mosquitos are a big concern. Also, I'm new to sewing and don't feel good enough yet to try sewing directly to the hammock.
