Do you use an UQ Protector?

Never seemed to need one, I would rather use the ounces for a larger tarp. My 'Winter Palace' tarp seems to provide all the coverage needed. I just pitch it low in a driving rain and use the doors.

I voted sock because that's just what I take more often. But I have used my space blanket to protect my UQ from rain splash. And I always have a space blanket so I guess I always have something I can use in a pinch. I like the sock for the micro climate and the darkness it creates.

I bought one on a whim - and I use it because I have it - even though I have synthetic insulation. I was fine without it before. I am giving serious thought to going to a small hammock tarp so the UQP may be of more importance if I do.

I have yet to use a UQP or sock. I do have a UQP on my DIY list though. I mainly car camp right now and for $10 and a little time it will be worth the piece of mind that my new down will stay nice. Not sure if I'll ever try a sock. I have a friend how has a fleece replacement for the bug net on his BB clone. That is something I might try.

If possible, carry extra ounces of tarp instead of a light, small tarp and a supplement for what the tarp doesn't do.

I have both - along with the above, the UQP or sock keeps the skeeters off my backside
