Hey guys,
Just wanted to post some pics of my completed DIY hammock! This was my first DIY project and it went pretty well. Only minor cursing involved in the process
I used two layers of 1.9 ripstop that came in just under 11' each after trimming. I roll-hemmed the long edges on both sides first, then double stitched both pieces together, leaving 36" on opposite ends/sides for a sleeping pad to be inserted in between. I did a triple stitched end channel on both sides, then ran my Amsteel Whoopie Slings through the end channel.
I wrapped the Whoopie around the channel twice-ish to ball up some fabric and then used a larks head to cinch it tight. The carabiners (and everything else) are courtesy of Scott at DIY Gear Supply and are rated to 1,100lbs. The tree straps are 1" polyester webbing, and the SRL is 1.9mm TechLine that, even with two knots for the loops, should hold my meager 170lbs.
I know you guys love pics, so here are the ones I took. I wanted to send out a huge thank you to everyone on here. Without the stuff y'all have posted, I would have never made it through this project. Now, on to the next thing...
