Just had a look and the binnacle is still a lot more expensive. Good to know though.

I had a quick look at the pricing too and found out it was priced by the foot. Which in he case for 7/64 Amsteel was $0.40 Canadian loonies. However the name of the game with ordering online is to get the lowest shipped cost per order.

    Cheers

I've had 'mixed' experiences with Binnacle, so I'd advise caution. Poor communication, and website' 'special' /'clearance item' (shoes) that suddenly disappeared when I ordered them - replaced with identical ones at higher cost.

I haven't seen any of these. Even amazon.ca doesn't have much. Some folks have had luck converting tie-down straps into tree straps. Just make sure you find some that are polyester and not nylon.

There are lots of options for U.S. vendors but maybe somebody else has a lead on a Canadian company?

Good point! I always forget about them!

Hennessy's 1" straps are $19.95 for 8-footers. They also do flat rate shipping of $15 per order. So that's $35 for a set of straps. In US dollars.

I just ordered 12-foot 1" straps along with 2 sets of lock'n'loads from Gary at readystrap.com for $35.20 USD including shipping. And his straps are rated at 3000lb breaking strength.

Those prices might be hard to beat in Canada.

    thanks for posting so quickly.

amazon is getting better, but either way (.com/.ca) I was looking at over 50$ for a pair of ENO straps that cost $20+/-

admitedly I know my way around a sewing machine (sorry, thread injector lol), but I don't know where I stored it..

I wrote to readystrap to see what they have to say.. fingers crossed - some companies are willing to work
with cheapskates like me (shipping wise). lol

I bought some white silnylon from ripstopbytheroll.com recently and was very pleased by their postage rates to Manitoba.

I think as a general rule, if it is coming by USPS/Canada Post and under $100 it will escape taxes and the dreaded brokerage fees.

    A source for Amsteel is chandleryonline.com. Their 7/64 amsteel is $Cdn 0.35 a foot.

Keep an eye on the Princess Auto flyers. They often have webbing straps on sale.

I do some work for folk making traditional toboggan packs and canoeing "software" and the occasional tarp but generally because fabric is cheaper in the USA it has to be a specialist custom item or it will cheaper to buy from the USA when labour charges are included.
