I sent Mark from Redden Rope an email a couple of days ago. He got back to me a day later mentioning that he'd come up with something for shipping. Gina got back to me today with some details. Here's her email:

Our 7/64" Amsteel Blue is $0.17 per foot.
I do not have exact shipping costs, as I would have to "make up" a box size and try to guess..
plus I have to shut my store down and drive into town to go the post office.
I would think it would be somewhere between 5 and 8 dollars to ship to you. (plus tax)
That's definitely the best price I've seen in Canada and is pretty close to the best price I've seen in the U.S. Great find BrianWillan!

I can't take credit for this supplier of Amsteel in Canada. Another Canadian on this site, dragon360, mentioned it to me. You'll just have to figure out how much 7/64th amsteel can be shipped for the quoted shipping price, because you know, splicing is addictive and no one just has one hammock.

    Cheers

I just ordered some rope from Redden:

    1/4 -.90 cents/ft
    1/8 -.21 /ft
    Very happy with that.

Those ARE good prices. When your parcel arrives, please let us know the final price you paid - with shipping.
I can get Amsteel locally (marine-oriented town) but at those prices, mail order starts to make sense.

    40 ft 3/16 amsteel 23.60$ .59
    1/8 125 ft amsteel 26.25$ .21
I got her to put it on the bus and unfortunately that added to it . $23 it could have been packed tighter and saved money. She was really reluctant to shut down the shop and mail it via Canada post . Got it next day though. Added about .13 per foot? Next time I'll send her a prepaid bubble envelope

Redden Net in Steveston has always provided me with good service. They are a small shop and have always been accomodating to requests for amsteel for DIY hammock gear.

Last time I ordered amsteel, I used Binnacle.com (the Canadian Store). Very quick, and the postage is calculated before you place the order (or register) so you can make an easy decision.

    Cheers
