    Hello from KC

I've been lurking for a while. I've learned a lot. This forum is a great resource and includes a wealth of information. Sometimes its a bit overwhelming.

I've seen others hammock camping and the idea intrigues me. I want to try it, but I don't want to drop $500 on new gear. But I also want to give it a fair shake. At first, I was sold on the Hennessy Hammocks. I wanted one and almost purchased one around Christmas time. Then I discovered the Lawson Blue Ridge and thought it was the best of both worlds. Again, almost bought one. As I read more on this forum, I found that the Warbonnet BlackBird and RidgeRunner are very popular. More research. Again, I almost bought one. Then, I stumbled across the dream hammocks and others. Everytime I feel ready to make a commitment, I find a feature that I like even more. Recently, I've been going through the DIY threads. Now I think I'm going to try making my own gathered end hammock.

    I hope I don't mess it up. ;-)

I have supplies on order. I can't wait until they get here so that I can start my first DIY project - a gathered end hammock.

Welcome to HF from Georgia! There's a great DIY section here on the site. Best of luck on your hammock creation.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

Welcome to the forums from SC. I would recommend making a gathered end hammock, using either ripstop or a tablecloth hammock from and maybe ordering whoopie slings and tree straps from one of the vendors here. Add a cheap Walmart tarp and blue foam pad for insulation and you're hanging!

Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

Welcome to the forum from Olathe. I got into hammocks about a year ago and have enjoyed mine a lot.
