    knots for dyneema tarp lines?

Ok, so let me start this by saying that I've really spent some time searching this... so if this is covered elsewhere, sorry for the new thread.

To the point!! I have a new Superfly from Warbonnet, and the 100' of dyneema to rig it up. I've watched the instructional video with Brandon's suggestions on line length, etc, but what I cannot find is a suggestion of what knots are best to attach the lines to the tarp? I keep hearing how slippery this stuff is, and how many knots slip loose, etc... and I don't have time to learn how to splice loops in the end of this stuff as I'm taking this bad boy out TONIGHT, so... what do y'all suggest? What the best knot to attach these lines to the tarp?

Tie a bowline, either directly to the tarp tie-out or larks head it to the tie-out. Tie to the stake with a marlin spike hitch and place stake in the ground.
Not adjustable but simple, quick & effective.

I'd do this as well although I'd make the bowline first and then larkshead that loop on the tarp just to make it easier to take the guylines off the tarp down the road.

I have Zing-it, which I think is the same stuff Brandon sells, and I have found that it holds knots just fine... Bowline, figure 8, Truckers hitch, double half hitch etc... Don't know why you'd need more than a Bowline on one end and Truckers hitch on the other.

I've spliced my lines now, but for my first try with my tarp I just folded the line then larksheaded it to the tie out. It did slip when I pulled really hard but not when rigging my tarp, no matter how tight I pitched it.

+1 for the msh to the stake!

How involved to you want to get with your tarp lines?

You could make a locked brummel looped eye splice on one end and a simple end bury back into the line on the other end. Larkshead the loop onto your tieouts as Bubba suggested and then use a taut line hitch to form an adjustable (slides up and down the line) loop on the staked end.

It's amazing what you can do with your gear when the weather is really nasty outside.

Sorry I missed the point about you're taking this bad boy out tonight.

Q & D use a bowline for the tieout end + a taut line hitch forming an adjustable loop at the stake. Do the splicing on the really bad weather days.

You could also use the MSH on the stake and the taut line hitch tied after passing the line through your tieouts to provide a more secure attachment to the stake and still gain the adjustability of the sliding taut line hitch.

Ive had all sorts on mine but ive now settled on 2mm english braids polyester sheathed dyneema with lineloc 3 adjusters. shove a peg in the floor and yank the line, job done and drum tight. Before that i used a siberian hitch to the tarp and a tautline at the peg.

Advantage of the linelocs is you can adjust from in the tarp. On this side of the pond thats an imperative

Larkshead on the tarp tie-out, marlin spike hitch on the stake.
