Nice (like REAL nice) tarp, neat trick - there's always something to learn from others projects.

    Thanks, appreciate it!

Thanks, I think I may keep this one and make him another one! As far as the hems go, the ones along the bottom edges were pretty easy, as they weren't cut as much on the bias. The cat cuts going from the bottom to the ridgeline pullouts were more difficult. They have a little twisting here and there.

Thank you, it was a great project.

Yeah, I can't take credit for this one... I owe this little trick to the ladies at the sew shop who are trying to get me to use my sewing skills to provide some testosterone to their quilt classes. They keep trying to get me to make quilts with them, its pretty funny. They are chock full of cool little tricks like that though. They (and my wife) talked me into making a king-size comforter for our bed. Now that was a project! This tarp was a lot less work than that!

Very nice job on the tarp. Those quilting ladies can be a wealth of information and tricks. I must admit, I'm in a sewing circle too. I made a down top quilt and took it to show them what a "real" quilt looks like.

I know. Thats why I appreciate when others post pics and write ups. Even mistakes, so I don't make them!

That is one awesome tarp. DIY skills look great and that argon is great stuff, silky soft. I got some to make a puffer-style jacket that I'm still working on.

Thats a good idea bout the extra material to start and stop with. I had that trouble with the 1.1 ripstop i just finished. Wish i had thought of that.

Wow, well done sir! I have some brown argon sil I ordered from Dutch that will be here tomorrow. My son and I are making him a hammock, a tarp, a backpack, and several custom sacks. We are starting with a sack or two and then on to the tarp. Your tarp, is EXACTLY what I was planning on making (with the exact material and elements. So now I am really siked (I just hope I am not too disappointed when my thread injection skills are not to par.

Oh well, that is why I am making my sons gear first (shhhhh, don't tell him I'm doing his first to learn from my mistakes before I make my gear ;-) Got that Janome HD3000 purring right along.

If possible would you be able to explain what stiches, hems, ties, etc you did? Looks like you did a blind hem around the perimeter instead of gross gain (I assume that was for weight reasons?)

Great job. I know it's hard moving those large pieces around. Nicely done.
