    Future Hammock owner

Hello from TN - longtime lurker.
I have a 16 yr old son whose friends all have (or are getting) an ENO hammock. I am going to get him one for Easter. I'm getting me one too!
My motive is to eventually go on overnight hikes - I have been researching like crazy, mostly on this forum.

Here is my short term plan:
For my son: ENO doublenest plus Atlas straps. He will mostly just hang in the parks and keep in his truck. ENO cause he likes the colors!
For me: ENO doublenest, pair of amsteel continuous loops to replace the included cords, keep the caribiners, Atlas strap, whoopie adjustable ridgeline. I'll look into whoopie slings after testing out and if I decide to do some camping.

No trees in the back yard but I do have a 6 ft fence around the pool. Rather than tie to the posts in one corner and risk pulling the posts inwards, I am thinking about a 10-12 ft bar laid on top of the fence in the corner and hang from the bar. This should put downward force on the fence, correct?

    Welcome to the madness.

recommend you find a group hang to attend to be able to check out a variety of setups and pick the other hangers brains on why they are setting up their gear the way they are.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Also, look into the turtledog stands. Really easy to make and you won't risk ruining your fence.
