I hear you on that. I'm going to test them out before using them all the time. May replace my kids whoopies with DG, they don't weigh near as much as I do.

After splicing and larksheading even "if" the Dynaglide was reduced in strength by 70% it would still hold 300 pounds.

I have also made some suspension components from Dynaglide. I have a concrete patio with the cover supported by 2" pipes.

I'll be testing my Dynaglide suspension pieces by supporting myself in my hammock over a 6 to 8 inch air mattress.

After that I'd need to use a high register scale while pulling on a piece of Dynaglide with some sort of winch.

Never hang higher than you are willing to fall!

I'll be hanging quite close to the air mattress when I get around to the testing phase.

Definitely be comfortable with you own risk/reward.
Just for the record, I'm just shy of 200# and have been hanging in the same Dynaglide whoopies for at least 40 nights. That's in the wilderness, re-setting up each night. I've gone through a few sets of straps over that time period. Your Mileage May Vary!!

Dynaglide - min breaking strength = 850 lbs / avg breaking strength = 1000 lbs

Amsteel Blue - min breaking strength = 1400 lbs / avg breaking strength = 1600 lbs

With perfect splicing, new rope and proper usage including paying attention to minimum bend diameter, figure ~20% loss of strength for the amsteel and at least that (maybe more) for the dynaglide.

These are breaking strengths, not safe working loads, so use you own judgement.

I have to agree with those who speak of caution. I stopped using them because after a couple uses, they look pretty bad at the bury. I finally changed them out with amsteel.

Rain Man..as I weight 275 lbs I totally agree. If I was a hundred pounds less then I might consider it. It is nice to know there are options.

For safe working load I divide the breaking strain by 5. ie, 1000lbs/5=200lbs. This is an industry standard down under in Oz.
