    UL Tarp Tieouts-Best/favorite methods?

A friend of mine has commissioned me to make him a hex tarp....as light as possible while still providing good coverage. (he can't afford cuben! )I've ordered argon sil and I am now debating various methods of tie outs. What does everybody think? Any favorite methods? Pros/cons of said methods? Any feedback would be appreciated.

On my last tarp I did the tieouts like in the picture below and I am really happy with them. I think it was just 5/8" grosgrain sewn in a V with a small gap that I spliced the zing-it onto afterwards. If the Zing-it wears it can easily be replaced. I also have a patch of 500d cordura under the tieout, but a sil patch would be sufficient . Gargoyle doesn't do patches on his tarps and has never had a problem, but I like a patch, so I've got them. Also the patch and the tieout go on the inside of the tarp so there is nothing for the rain to "catch" on. But the panel pulls on the tarp "walls" I do as in the second photo and obviously the grosgrain needs to be on the outside for that, but the patch is still on the inside.

I like the look of your stitching Red. I was thinking of foregoing the patches, never thought of just adding a patch of sil. I may do that just to be on the safe side.

Thanks, to be honest, patches add quite a bit of work, but I just feel better about having a couple of layers at my tieouts.

Yeah I'm not scared of work. Thanks for the input Red. I'll post pics when I decide what to do and finish it up.
