Diy attached bug not help please :)

    Hey everyone!

So I finally decided I wanted to permintly attach my bug net to my hammock giving it sort of a hennessy style bug net just over the RL and attached to the sides and a zipper on one side.

So I ordered the zipper and the sliders (I have never sewn a zipper in my life onto anything) but I went ahead and ordered them I have a whipped end hammock I just made but I have been thinking on this forever and can't wrap my mind around this on how to attach the bug net to my hammock and get it to fit pretty we'll. I can't figure out the shape the bug net needs to be cut into or how to attach it onto the hammock when it's closer to the gathered ends? If anyone can understand what I'm trying to explain please give me some advise bug season is coming! Thanks everyone I'll try and uploaded a couple pictures of my hammock.

In the DIY threads I remember seeing someone who set up their hammock and loaded it with something then used big pieces of paper to make a cutting template for the bug net. Probably easier if you have two people one laying in the hammock and the other making the template so you know what shape the hammock forms when you lay in it. Makes me wonder how the cottage gear people do this especially ones with different hammock sizes like the Dream Hammocks....

I would get some old bedsheets and sew a couple of them together. Then drape the bedsheet over your hammock, cut it to fit. Then use that cut out bedsheet as a pattern to cut your bugnet.

You could just drape the bugnet and cut it directly, by own experience is I usually mess this up first time, so make your mistakes on the bedsheet first, then use the bedsheet as a pattern when you are ready.

Also I would make sure it's a loose fit so it doesn't tear.

Search Lost Biker DIY posts. I remember him posting a step by step on this.

Here you go. Found it. Should be worth the read. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...t-The-Easy-Way

X-trekker also has a video tutorial on attaching a bug net. I've found his and Lost_Biker's tutorials very helpful.
