Just saw this: http://channel.nationalgeographic.co...os/bear-alarm/
I find it pretty funny when he pulls out an Eno hammock at the end, while all the other episodes emphasize how primitive his gear is.

to us HF er's enos are primitive.
I'm not saying that they are. I also caught him wearing Birkenstocks.

Haha, that was a funny clip.
Long before I knew anyone made camping hammocks I used to hang a doubled wool blanket as a hammock to sleep in, this was in the 80's.
Then one day I saw one of those canvas G.I. hammocks at a surplus store for 35.00, I used it for a few years and I now look back at that as being pretty primitive. That thing soaked up rain like a sponge.
I still think the concept is primitive, but the level of design and quality of materials we have today is sure nice!
I like to go solo - off trail - immerse myself in the area - explore - eat really well - and make it back home.
i have never been a hippie or will ever be a hippie...still eno is my go to hammock and has been for a long time....

ENO, the hammock for those who have neither the time nor the disposable income for yet another hobby, but just want a comfortable night's sleep in the woods.
i'm 13, talk to me about disposable income! i just think that compared to other hammys in the same price range from cottage vendors, you get more advanced features such as a structural ridgeline and more comfortable length and maybe even save a few$$ . like these: http://www.buttinasling.com/wewemi.html http://www.buttinasling.com/biascamperxl.html http://www.simplylightdesigns.com/ca...products_id/83
Another thing to keep in mind is that while ENO products tend to be a bit short, they do have a high weight limit (400 lbs), which is quite nice for those of us who are heavier...something the cottage vendors you listed don't offer at similar prices. Don't get me wrong, I'm planning to upgrade away from ENO as soon as I can spare the cash (have my eye on a double layer WBBBXLC), but they aren't as horrific as some make them out to be, especially as a starter hammock.
Yeah, I hate my eno.
I'm a Mormon. I know it, I live it, and I love it.
