I'm going to steal the dice idea when my amsteel shows up in the mail box. It would be a lot hard to break than a standard bead.

Yeah, the beads are just cheap plastic. I imagiine the dice are made out of hard resin, impact resistant 'cause, you know, people are throwing dice all the time.

Well... I didn't have any beads so I used the next best thing... Rubber Grommets.... The good thing is the grommet doesn't move and wont rub the rope. Otherwise, it functions as the beads... They work for me!

Brilliant, the idea of rubber Gromits is amazing.

Yes, but depending on the rubber, they can leave a mark on the sling after being on one place for a while particularly on the lighter colors such as yellow. Viton washers and o'rings don't seem to do this in our limited testing.

    Thanks for the advice

I was worried about the beads on my whoopies breaking. But, that's a great idea. Ill just use a small zip tie if it does happen. Don't have to undo the buries that way.

Zip ties work great. Either slightly loose to float or tight up by the outer portion of the adjustable bury

The wind was whipping pretty good yesterday as I set up my GT ultralight. Got first tree hugger/marlin spike up, got the first whoopie hooked up.
I deployed the hammock from its bag as I walked to the second tree. Holding the end of the hammock and whoopie sling while I got the hugger set. A gust filled the hammock and yanked. I manage to hold on to the whoopie but soon discovered that the loop was gone, buried in the bury..
Some careful picking and I had the loop back out.

I got it set, and then went back to the first to adjust it. The whoopie slipped of the marlin hitch as a gust came up and being a slow learner. I found myself with the loop buried for the second time in a couple minutes.

I made these whoopie slings a couple of weeks ago based on a youtube video. They didn't mention beads...
I love the system but have to go back, take them apart and rebuild with the safety beads..

This works very well. Paul at Arrowhead did this for me as a custom bit of work. Very clean, nothing to lose or break.
Homer: Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks!
