Coal, oil, and gas companies have really made a mess of this watershed and the entire SE Ohio region. Acid Mine Drainage is also a common problem as shown in the beginning of this video. Wayne National Forest may be a good location to test out Sawyer's new Select filters.

I try to only draw water from feeder streams at higher altitudes if possible, well above major creeks and lakes where contaminates can linger and become concentrated.
