    First Hang in DIY

So I tried to contain my excitement about making my own suspension and hammock for several days, but I can't go on like this. IT'S FANTABULOUS!!!

Everything is so small and light now, I can take it on walks and play frisbee with my dog from my hammock. The only real downfall is now there's an extreme risk of me selling my WBBB so I can buy an UQ.

Also- my UCRs were slipping a tad - I used 7/64 Amsteel, with 6.5" buries. I suspect I wasn't milking them enough, and their slippage will be limited, so I could just hang my hammock a little wider, and they'll slip to a good distance and stop.

I must confess I didn't overnight yet - it's been too cold with just a pad.

You are not the only one with UCRs which slip a tad. Welcome to the club. Glad you are having so much fun with your DIY gear.

    Congrats!

I used 7/64 Amsteel, with 6.5" buries Maybe should have gone 8", that is my target. Normal constrictor is 3.5 x Fid length, which is 21 x diameter of rope.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

    Awesome! DIYing is fun!

I've been hanging for 3-4 months now and have made 3 hammocks - one for my girlfriend and two for me of different lengths so I can experiment. I also made whoopie slings. It's a fun bug to catch!

Bushwacker, have you settled on a length for the hammock?
