SF & HG CF No Sew Pole Mod Question

I have searched but I did not find my answer for this. Currently I have a WB SF tarp and I am getting ready to make a no-sew pole mod for the tarp but I am also looking into the possibility to get the HG cuben fiber standard tarp. Since the SF tarp is 18" wider than the HG tarp will the same pole mod work on both tarps or will I need to make two separate sets of pole mods?

That would depend on the distance between the panel pulls in relation to each other, not the width of the tarps. You would either have to measure them yourself, or ask the manufacturers.

Thanks Youkon. I measure 48" on the SF. Would anyone happen to know what the distance between the panel pulls of the standard HG CF tarp?

Mine is the HammockGear Standard with doors purchased about a year ago.

37" measured across the ridgeline, 45.5' measured between panel pulls on the same side of the tarp

Thank you for measuring your tarp for me MAD777. Well it looks like I will need a separate pole mod for each tarp.

Now I have to think if I want to keep the SF when I order my HG CF tarp.

Just thinking out loud, but depending on how much of a difference the distance is across the ridgeline between panel pulls couldn't you just make a dogbone or something to make up for the diference?

I was reading about these mods earlier today on HF; saw a picture of someone using prusicks on poles that were too long for the tie-outs. In essence, the cordage was attached to the tie-out (larks head?) and the other end was a prusik around the pole. Tension on the prusiks seemed to be enough to hold the poles in place.

    Edit: here it is.

Rather than separate poles, consider using shock cord from the CF pulls to the end of the poles. My poles have the grommet grabbing ends that hold shock cord loops well.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
