    Tarp Door Rigging

I have searched and cant find exactly what I am looking for.

I have a WB Superfly and have some questions about how everyone rigs the doors. I currently have 4' lines of zing-it (or whatever you call the yellow tarpline from Warbonnet) connected to each door, but am wondering if there is any hardware that others have used to make the doors easier to open and close to get out. I am thinking of using some small Sbiners to connect to the guyline and open and close the door by connecting the sbiner to the tieout on the door. Any pros/cons of using this method, what size sbiner would work best?

For my doors I rig them with 1/8" shock cord and a mitten hook. The shock cord attaches to the door then, the mitten hook attaches to the guy line tie out on opposite side of the tarp. It provides tension, a tight seal (crossing the door flaps) and it is easy to reach under and grab the mitten hook attached to the tie out.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks 12trysomething. I asked Brandon about that and he did not recommend shock cord on the doors of the newer Superflys. I am really thinking about just using small sbiners Size 1 or so on the doors. Anyone try this?

Did Brandon tell you why the shock cord is not recommended on the doors? I have an SF and use shock cords on the door. Seems to work well for me.

I use shock cord. My Superfly is only just over a year old.
tarp door hooks from Dutch. They work great for me.

I tried s-biners it only made the doors very floppy. I had them staked out with zing-it but tripped one night on the lines and ripped the tarp from the ridgeline ribbon. When I fixed that I sewed Velcro at the bottom and about halfway up. Then I put shockcord on one door only. It works fantastic.

I also use shockcord. Currently using the thin stuff, 1/16th in I think.
1 piece on each door tie-out, with either a mitten hook or TATO door hook.
I trimmed a bit from the "catch" portion of the hooks to make disconnection easier and they seem to hold well.
I have a mini cord lock holding the shock cord to the tie-out so I can adjust the length/tension as needed.
I want to be able to reach the same side door or the side tie-out to hold the door(s) out of the way, the opposite corner or guy-line to close the tarp up tight, the opposing door corner staked to the ground if I want a bit of alcove, or the door out to the side for additional wind blockage. The adjustibility of the cord lock set up allows me to easily achieve all of those.

Brandon just stated that they pitch better with static line. I dont want to speak for him or make any definite statements, but it is probably along the lines of his stance on CRL with the SF.

I would generally go with what the maker says, but dang if I am not always tripping over my door lines. Tarp tie-outs not so much but those darn door lines almost every other time it seems.
I would hate to rip off a tie-out, shock cord seems so much more forgiving. It also helps keep my rear end off the ground.
