    Tarp corner tie outs

    I suck at searches!

I have a nice hiking tarp from Campmor that I want to add corner tie outs to instead of adding grommets, I've seen them somewhere but can't find the link and my search here has turned up nothing but pictures of what I want but no links.

Has any got a link to a sewn on corner tie out loops, (I guess that's what they are called)?

I just take a 10" piece of grosgrain fold it over on itself at 90 degrees and run a row of stitches across where they cross. This just locks the loop in place. Lay the loop and tails on the corner and pin in place. Sew the tails downs to the hem. I think this pic though fuzzy should show the basics.

Aaaaand a link to the information: tarps. All of the projects include how to do tie-outs in easy-to-follow visual format.

Another note: if you want guyline storage right on the tarp, only sew to ~1/3 of the reinforcement piece on either side (in other words, leave the middle third unsewn). This will leave a pocket where you can stuff your guylines once they're wrapped.

    Hope it helps!

    searches on HF

A "secret" to successful searches for info on HF is to open another window in your internet browser and use a full featured search engine like Google or Bing, just + Hammock Forums. This also raises HF up in the search list for others who have never heard of HF. BUT if you post a question on a new thread, you make new friends and grow the community spirit that way, so it's all good. Have fun.

olddog's solution (pictured above) is both elegant and is least likely to damage the tarp.
