Awesome info on water drops and water crossings. I just learned that I'll be staying busy at work for the next month or so, and then I'll most likely be sent off to a project in western Pennsylvania, so I'm not sure when I'll get my chance.

I am still hoping to get a few days on the trail before work sends me away. Don't think I'm gonna try to do 3 consecutive 26 mile days. I'm thinking 16-20s.

Yah. I'm still marveling at the 21 miles in 7 hours on the last day. I'm looking at (6) 16 mile days.

Snags is one mile churning dude. I doubt this fat old man could replicate that type of performance.

I'm better looking than he is, of course.

Maybe that was due to my 5" vertical leap
Yeaow! And you pushed out fifty miles on that? I'm impressed. On the other hand, if it looks that bad and hurts as bad as it sounds, I'd definitely think about seeing a doctor about it. That looks like the kind of thing that might be serious damage.

I'll concede that to you, Sarge. You win the fat old man contest.

I may need to do that - I'm still hobbling pretty bad today. I believe it's a shin splint, which just takes a lot of time to heal. And it was totally avoidable - duh.

I'm putting together a few pictures from the trip but probably won't get them posted until tomorrow.

Just promise me you won't use the shin splint picture as your avatar.

I tell ya, I'll be proud if I can finish the dangting in 6 days. You are my new Hero for doing it in less than 3 1/2.

Here are a few pictures from last weekend's hike:

    1 - enemies of SnaggleRoot
2 - ...and don't hang from them, either
3 - typical bottomland scene with dwarf palmettos
4 - Hurricane Cove on Lake Conroe in the late afternoon
5 - first night hang with creepy face in burnt out stump
    6 - LSHT crosses spillway - careful, it's slippery
    7 - don't mess with Texas vines
    8 - .4 miles left - a sight for sore feet

    Congrats!

Thanks for the TR and pics! I'm tentatively planning a thru during spring break this March and will be hanging a Warbonnet BB. Thanks for the details and congrats on big miles! That shin splint looked pretty nasty! They say that on the trail you become "comfortable with what is normally uncomfortable" and I see you proved that!
I did a 4C Trail yo-yo in Oct. so that was my first back-to-back 20 mile days, but knocking out 3 - 26's rivals AT stuff! My personal best is 21 on an OHT (Ozark Highlands Trail) thru and that kicked my butt!!! Although my b2b 20 impresses my friends, the 4C is not so different than walking on carpet. lol
