    G'day from CA Redwood Coast

    Greetings to HF "hangers"~

I have been "hanging around" this forum for a while, making no noise, watching and learning. I confess that this hammock concept is intriguing, and at this writing, I have yet to spend a single night suspended betwixt two trees...

I went on a camp-out with the boys in our Scout Troop last weekend, and a couple of my fellow assistant Scoutmasters had ENO single hammocks, and just crowed about them. I really want to give it a go, just not sure which unit(s) to try--a local outdoor shop has several major brands, but will not demo them, even in-shop, for fear that someone will do a face-plant into their concrete floor and sue them naked. I see a fair spread in price-points, from quite affordable to kinda spendy; not sure if I need the top-drawer unit, or something that I can work up from if I decide that I like this off-the-ground sleeping stuff... Thought about asking to borrow; but not sure about the "etiquette" among hangers--if this is "cool" or frowned upon. Look forward to chatting amongst you, and getting your input regarding brands (and brand loyalty...), techniques, and experiences! AS you can see from my tag, I'm from the CA North Coast, and we certainly have no shortage of trees from with to hang out from... Cheers! NCV

I'd suggest attending a group hang to sample various rigs. Depending on how far you'd be willing to travel, I have a few different hammocks you could see (I'm up in Shasta County).

Welcome aboard, I have done a few hammock demos for people interested at work to show them the hammock backpacking concept and all the various gear.

I do love to talk hammocks and gear, and am located on the "lost coast"... true NORCAL.

there is a group hang planned (thread here on the forum) the first week of April for Boggs Mountain, might be worth checking out... and there has been some chatter about a Southern Oregon/ Nor-Cal hike & hang get together sometime this spring.
