    Hammock camping with your dog

What do you do to keep your best friend comfortable when you go camping? What about in the winter?

I saw this thread, just looking for other options. Seems like I'd have to hang my suspension much higher than I can reach to do that.

My dogs just pile in with me, the larger one sleeps beside and the smaller one sleeps on top of me. It's quite warm.

How do you deal with their nails? Do you put boots on them?

My dog has to come with me camping. I can't carry all that stuff!

Seriously, I bring his blanket from his kennel at home and put it on the ground under my hammock. He's happy so I'm happy.

Buddy uses a Kelty toddler sleeping bag rated for 30*. If he gets too cold he'll get in the hammock with me.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!

I imagine you do something like this, but don't the dogs need to be hammockers since they were pups (like the one in the vid), to not kick you too much?

Oh sorry, I just duplicated your video. I feel like it's not a feasible option if your dog is a "sprawler" and kicks you in the night, and the ground is too cold during the winter. I mean, I have a poodle with a full coat, but even she gets cold up North.

Does Buddy sleep with the sleeping bag on top of him? My dog refuses to do that. I think I might just buy a second hand down vest for her.

What about in terms of weather protection? Is there anything lighter than a superfly-type of tarp? A separate tarp maybe, or something that extends the coverage of the bottom hammock?

He sleeps in the bag. It has zippers down both sides so I can leave it unzipped at the top and he'll get between the layers. He likes to sleep under the covers at home if he gets too cold. I use a ground cloth under the hammock and he sleeps with a ccf pad under the head end of the hammock so he's covered by the tarp too.
