Tarp ridge line overlap length Q

Up till now I have been using tarps with ridge lines way longer than my hammock. I purchased a WBBB xlc and now my tarp only overlaps the hammock by an inch or two.

What would one consider the minimum tarp ridge line to hammock overlap for winter, summer, windy and rainy conditions?

That's cutting it close. I think you'll be ok unless it's blowing rain. Then it'll depend on if your tarp has doors. You might could get doors for it if you know there's a decent rain chance. For summer or winter with no driving rain expected, I'd imagine if you have a good drip string on each end you'll be ok for the occasional shower.

    What cut of tarp? Length?
There are some simple mods you can make to a hex cut to get by with.

On my 11' hammocks I really prefer a 12' RL for the tarp.

I am no fan of having the tarp all the way down on the hammock RL.
All that bending over kills my back. I usually set my tarp up so I can stand upright.
I prefer to find other ways to protect the hammock and quilts from wind and blowing snow/rain like a 2QZQ UQP, & door/s.

Tarp ridge line overlap length Q

If your tarp has doors, you can get away with very little overlap. But, you will have to lower the tarp to just above the hammock ridgeline.
I have 11' hammocks with 110" ridgeline and use a cuben tarp with doors with a 130" ridgeline. That gives me a 10" overhang, which allows me to keep the doors open unless it is blowing rain.
Since cuben tarps are generally more narrow than silnylon or PU tarps, I like the lower pitch, which gets the sides down lower. Yes, it makes me stoop low to enter & exit, but the alternative is to hike with a heavier, bulkier tarp.

I like to have around 12 inches past my hammock ends.

So with doors the view is you can get away with less? Say 6 inches each side?

You can, but as Outland stated, it's a very low ceiling affair. Works OK for me since I'm not real big. Better than getting wet 3 days out on a trail.
How the tarp is suspended also makes a difference, depending upon the cut.
