Question Tenth Wonder Hammocks from UK: do you know them?

    Hello,

just looking on the web for my first hammock and I found this eBay shop devoted to hammocks. They have different items and also tarps, poncho, liners and other.
Some of you have info about their quality?
No evidence of them in the manufacturers gear forum...
Looking for my first hammock I'm inevitably attracted from Speer and Warbonnet but price (and also shipping rate to Italy ) let me search for european sellers.
I'm pretty sure that Speer and Warbonnet are different kind of stuff but I was wondering if these could be valuable as backup or maybe for light use.
    Thanks for now

I don't know anything about them first hand. I've only seen their ebay page and some post about them on the forum at bushcraftuk. Do a search there for tenth wonder hammocks and it will turn up about 6 different threads.

I do recall reading one thread there some months back and there was a bit of discontent concerning the tenth wonder guy making some deragatory comments about the manufacture of the DD hammocks.

here is a link to one of the post there which is similar to your enquiry.

    http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/sho...tenth+hammocks

Anyway, to find all they had to say about the tenth wonder go here :

    http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/index.php

do a search - on the right side top - and you'll find much more about what the folks there had to say about them.

I did think they appeared a lot the same as the DD Hammock. But also thought the open netting with cover on the ends was a nice feature. But I know nothing about their quality or comfort, or robustness of design.

I got their Hex Tarp today, bought as a last minute saver when i was told i wont get the SpinnakerPoly i ordered more then a month ago

Looks like a very nice starter Tarp for Europeans so far, mine does have some missed stitches at a tie-out reinforcement though.
Might be sweatshop labour but if you're okay with it for the big names it shouldn't bother you here either..

Tarp alone weights in a 491g/17,3oz , it came with a length of 14mm and a length of 10mm tubular polypro webbing, some strange guylines, 4 awesome bamboo pegs and two stuffsacks.
I'll post some pictures and more detailed impressions later.

I've had a Tenth Wonder jungle hammock for a while now along with the Sargasso tarp. Spent a few nights out in it and always been comfortable. Not had any problems

I bought beginning last week this one:
"Tenth Wonder Black XL Camping or Garden Hammock 2.8m"
and received it within 3 working days (UK to CZ), so with the shipping i am very pleased.
During this week, i will test it out and write my findings here.

Today I tested the hammock, and it is quite good. Only issue was that the standard rope got damaged very easily by hanging just for 10 minutes between 2 tree's. But i will replace them anyway, so i do not care too much about that.

Small update, the ropes on the black xl from tenth wonder are still holding up.
It is double layered, extra long (2.8 meters), and simply great.

5 minutes ago, i bought 2 more, but green ones, one for me and one for my friend with who i go hiking a lot.

So, xl hammock + shipping = about 32 usd from United Kingdom to Czech Republic.
    Me very pleased

I have three Tenth Wonder Hammocks ( one regular and two xl ) really pleased with them(lot of use), I use a very short piece of the original rope in the gathered ends with a lanyard knot (feel this is less abrasive on the Material) and attach honemade whoopie slings, marlin spike and toggle on the rest of the original rope as tree huggers, Very happy, just want to do more hanging, I have had personal dealings with Neil and found him pleasant to do business with, jeff
