    Talking Finnally made slings!

I learned how to make whoopie slings yesterday, and i found a great practice rope to make them out of, without accidentally ruining my 7/64th amsteel. The line i used to practice was 1.75 mm utility line from Arrowhead Equipment. Turns out, this line is spliceable, and very inexpensive. Perfect practice for making whoopie slings! Although it's extremely thin... I post some pics too.

p.s. this "line" is rated to 400 lbs, and is 29 cents per foot from AHE.

Dang thats a pretty good price, I paid for mine from whoopieslings.com, I wish i made them now that I think about it, the whole price of amsteel kind of put me off though, I thought everything was going to be cheap like paracord. boy I was wrong! Nice job by the way, keep up the good work : )

Congrats on the whoopies. Your practice line is the frequently discussed 1.75 Zing It.

You might want to get out your calculator and check the prices per foot. AHE lists amsteel at $5.85/25' = $0.234/ft and 1.75 Zing It (utility line) at $0.29/ft.

I have been making some myself and found it very enjoyable. I made them with 3mm, 2mm and some with 1.5 dyneema.

The 2&3mm were easy. The 1.5 was tricky but so tight and looks so clean. It only has a 250kg weight limit tho. So will probably end up used for my tarp.

Plan is: 3mm for suspension 750kg rated. 2mm for structural ridgeline. 1.5 for tarp.

Making my own whoopie slings was the best decision I ever made.

Same for me. I really enjoyed the process. Learning some new skills as a bonus.

It did take me a few tries to get them right, but that is the joy. And pulling them apart and improving them was very satisfying.

Agreed. I went right into making my own $5.50 in material vs $18 to save 10 minutes of work didn't make sense to me.
