Arrowhead Equipment Amsteel or Dynaglide (newbie)

Ok so I am all about DIY, after reading several threads I went over to Arrowhead and they offer both Amsteel and Dynaglide. I know this has been debated more than once. I want to build whoopie slings for both of our hammocks but after reading all the different opinions I have no clue which to choose. If I am reading it right the Dynaglide on Arrowhead is 12 strand 1000lb. They don't list the specs on the Amsteel. I'm leaning toward the Dynaglide but I am defiantly open for advice and suggestions on what to get and where to get it. Thanks in advance.

If you have to ask the question, go with Amsteel.

When you no longer have to ask the question, you will be able to make an informed decision and assume the related risk.

Amsteel can be had from almost any cottage vendor in hanks of modest length.

Ratdog your post got me thinking in a different direction for my search and I found the ratios I was originally looking for to answer my question in this thread http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...+working+limit
Thanks for kicking my brain into another gear.

Ratdog gives good advice. Dynaglide is doable for folks of modest proportion, but it doesn't leave much of a safety factor. A bit of fraying, wrong hang angle, too much dynamic force, squirrel chewing on it
Go with the Amsteel 7/64" for now. There's only a tiny bit of weigh & volume savings to be had for the increased risk. Later, you can make an educated decision which will be best for you, but only after you get the "hang" of hanging properly.

The 7/64" amsteel has an average breaking strength of 1600 lbs and a 1400 pound minimum breaking strength.

    Choose the amsteel.

2 Trail Hikers What is your weight? Dynaglide is OK for folks under about 225 but you also have to keep in mind that it's a UL material and will wear out faster than Amsteel.

We stock 7/64" amsteel, it's rated to 1400 pounds and is good for up to about 400 pound loads, though we have tested to 600 pounds.... that's a bit beyond recommended. We can get any size amsteel made, so if you want 1/8" at 2500 pounds or even 1" at over 100,000 pounds we can supply it.

We are both under 200lbs and both have the ENO DN which are rated at 400lbs so the 7/64 Amsteel is the way we will go. Plan to place an order tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice were learning slowly.
