I have two of these that I purchased when they first were released. My wife & I use them at local parks. Anything touching trees is prohibited at all our state & county parks. These were a life saver.

Jason - interesting idea. I have one question after looking at your site...how do most of your customers hang their tarps? The prototype page had some neat ideas but those solutions do not look to be available at this time. Thanks! and while you're at it, I'll add...what is shipping costs to US (estimate is fine, I imagine it varies a bit). your product looks like a great device for hanging at the beach.

I'd love to get a Handy Hammock setup.. but honestly, what scares me most if the possibility of customs fees.. I have no idea how they work, or if I'd get charged.

That's a bonus! I do a lot of whitewater rafting trips where we camp on beaches or in desert canyons with little to no trees that will work for suspending a hammock. I'm hoping that this will allow me to use my hammock more often.

I'm also looking at getting into some kayak touring, which will limit what I can carry. I have a bad knee & leg that won't allow me to use use a traditional small tent and sleep on the ground. I've looked into several UL shelter & sleeping methods, but they were pricey and didn't look all that comfy. I'm hoping the Handy Hammock will allow me to use my hammock anywhere.

There were no customs fees or additional taxes when I bought mine and had it shipped to Florida. They were packaged VERY well and clearly marked that they had come from Great Britain.

@4shot, generally most people seem to use a couple of long poles, although I'm not sure what the most popular are. Shipping for US is £25

@hk2001, I'm afraid I dont know what the custom charges might be. Many customers have reported not getting charged.
