Greetings to all. On March 13, 2013 I stopped lurking and joined Hammock Forums, and I am glad that I did. Shortly after that, I became a paying member, which I highly recommend as well. I am not going to go into all of the good things about this forum, it has all been said. What I am going to do is Pay It Ahead. On March 13, 2014 I will draw, at random, the winner of my DIY Cook Kit Giveaway. All you have to do is reply to this to get in.
This cook kit is something I started building and using in the fall. People have found this a versatile kit for a range of trip lengths. Included is:
1 - 4 cup food safe plastic container
1 - 2 cup DIY Foster pot/mug with pressed-in ring and wick wrap. This is made to hold exactly 2 cups when filled to the top. You will find it easy measuring / boiling for most meals. The bottom of the wick wrap is exactly 1 cup for ease of measuring for coffee / tea / hot chocolate and the like.
1 - DIY custom lid. I make these from the new screw top bud light aluminum bottles. I find them more durable than the typical can lids.
1 DIY alcohol stove. The winner will get to choose from a 1 piece rolled top bud light stove, a full-size "donut burner", a small "donut burner" or a small "all in one" stove. Both of the burners include rivet nut and thumb screw. They will require a pot stand, not included. A priming wick is installed on both of these burners as well as the bud light stove .
1 - cut down spoon
1 - 2oz fuel bottle
The total weight of this kit varies between 4oz, if the small "all in one" stove is chosen, and 4.9oz, if the 1 piece rolled top bud light stove is chosen. The 4 cup container is perfect for mixing / eating your meal, especially if you add a pot cozy to it. The Foster pot / mug is tri-purpose for measuring, boiling and drinking, again a pot cozy can be added.
When submitting please state which stove you would prefer if chosen the winner.
Again, I appreciate the forum. I wish that 2014 finds you wrapped in downy goodness and happy trails to all.
