Mule and I were talking, we came to the conclusion that it was time to start thinking about this year's "Hoosier Hang".
The weekend of April 11, 12 & 13 at Crescent Valley II in the Deam Wilderness sounds good.
This is the same location as last year's hang as well as last year's "Halloween Hang". It is a great location with plenty of room that's off the beaten path. It has good hang trees, plenty of water, easy trails in and there is ample parking at the trail head. There is even a short cut in, if you don't mind climbing Mt. Everest on your way out!
The only thing we will need to do different (to comply with NFS rules in the Deam) is we will need to set up mini camps with 10 or less people. Crescent Valley II is so open and spread out that this will not be a problem and will not alienate any of our group. We can all still meet at the fire for some good old hammock talk!
Yes we've been here, but it's a great place that most anyone can easily find, even if they are unfamiliar with the Hoosier National Forest or even Indiana.
It will be a great time after the long, cold, snowy winter we've had this year.
Hope to see you there!
