Chubby sister DIY 11' hammock from Dutch Argon cs90

I bought some Argon cs90 from Dutch to see if I could make a hammock out of it after talking to him about it at the NEHHA nor'easter hang. It worked. Made a brilliant 11' whipped end hammock. The more I hang in it the more I like it, because it's a supper stretchy fabric, it cradles you. By far the most comfortable hammock I've made to date. It also packs down to the size and weight of a softball, and that's including the complete suspension system.

However, that fabric is not designed to be made into hammocks (or maybe it is and it just doesnt know it yet), when I got it I had some second thoughts because it is soooo thin. It's black and you can see through it! Tried it anyway and we'll just have to see if it holds up. Slept in it in the living room last night and I think I'll do that again tonight.

Anyone else tried making a hammock out of this?

I'm very interested. The original Argon was unsuitable. Double layered it held but just exploded if you poked a hole in it. I have a piece doubled over that I use as a chair in my back yards and has held up well. I'm looking forward to further reviews.

I am worried about getting a small hole in it, but it has two strands in the rip stop instead of one. I hope it holds up. It's light as a feather and if that thing blows into a fire it's a gonner for sure!

And by the way, it's called the chubby sister hammock because the cs in the cs90 stands for chubby sister. And that's because of the double threaded rip stop.

Something wrong with saying that you spent the night in your chubby sister.
Cool fabric use though. Maybe a market for the bug out preppers crowd due to the size and weight benefits.

I wouldn't go getting too excited over two successful nights. I had an M50 hammock that lasted 12 nights before it blew out on me. I thought 12 nights was enough testing and took it backpacking and it blew out the first night.

I'm looking forward to hearing how it holds up long term.

That's too bad. It definitely needs some more testing. I'll be sure to carry a backup. It's not showing any stretch marks or anything yet. We'll see...

I noticed that the Argon blew out with any small prick while under tension. I'm wondering what would happen if you loaded it then poked a hole in it like if you sat on some underbrush. I think I will order some to test.
