@ fishbait I was wondering if there is any guidance if a situation like this were to come up again. I see were it isn't extra personal gear how it falls outside the For Sale rules. Where it is is a large quantity it gets closer to vendor status, but where bdbart isn't trying to make a profit it doesn't fall into that category either. I guess the closest category would be a group buy.

I appreciate the chance to get some DIY materials at a great deal, and at the same time see how this opportunity could be abused.

Is there a good way to proceed if I were to score a garage full of down sleeping bags on a storage unit auction and wanted to offer them up on the forum for my cost plus S&H?

I'd hate to see an opportunity like this passed over because it doesn't fit one of the available categories.

agreed.
I think the mods were just endeavoring to thwart any possibilities down the road, but I think it was a little premature.
Group Buy might work.

Can you give us an idea of when you'll be shipping? I'm not pressing at all, I don't even need the things for a couple months. Today, Tomorrow, Next week...doesn't matter to me. Just curious.

This technically falls under the order of a Group Buy and should have been posted there. It was decided to let this remain in the For Sale Subform. As for any possible future lucky finds I would advise contacting a Moderator or Admin to best see how to proceed.

See my comment above. This is considered a Group Buy, the OP is making Zero to very little profit from what I see. The concern as to where the listing was posted that's all.
