    Red face new from INDIANA

Been a camper/hiker all my life. Love the outdoors. Never even thought of hammocks as a way of shelter and sleep system. Yet to take mine out due to work and these blizzards going on but i do have an ENO dblnest DLX. its quite large when ive set up in the yard. i can literally wrap it around me like a blanket. I dont have a tarp yet. i was thinking oiled Canvas because of the ruggedness. i know they are heavy but i like em.. any thought comments concerns, upcoming hangs, hiking trails, camping spots. If you know any good fishing holes i would greatly appreciate it. i love any and all things outdoors. I open this thread to any and all Topics and or suggestions. oh yah one more thing. wtf is whoopie sling and why are they better than straps. i have atlas straps

Most of my family still live in Chicago. I have never seen a picture of a hammock hanging in an ice hut.

My TV told me that today was Squirrel appreciation day. A great day to welcome you to the forums. A whoopie sling is a hammock suspension made from amsteel http://whoopieslings.com/ Most of the member forums are kept hammock related. The donating member section is where the off hammock discussions about knives, cooking, backpacks, etc. are located. You can carry an oiled canvas tarp if you want to, HYOH. (Hang your own hang).

atlas straps are from tree to carabiner, the whoopies replace the stock suspension of the hammock, then you attach the whoopies to the slap straps. word of warning atlas straps then to stretch more, we tend to use polyester straps to go from hammock suspension to straps. does it makes sense?...

if not, then shugs video series is a great place to start.....
