    UQ for Clark Tropical 2

I was discussing different insulation methods with TinaLouis (thanks!) and was wondering if anyone could point to some good previous links in the forum on the "how to" from the beginning to construct a medium to winter weight down
UQ for the Clark Tropical 2.
I am sure FishinFinn has some good ideas as well. I have never sewn anything, and don't have a machine, but I do have possibly a friend who would assist me in this project. (I hope!)

Lyndon, any normal UQ will work on the Clark. It takes away from the use of the pockets (or at least makes them harder to get at,) but I have used a JRB Katahdin UQ and my Thermadrape UQ on the Clark successfully.

The only thing to think about is that the Clark is a little narrower than other hammocks, so you need a slightly narrower UQ. The Katahdin is a little large for the Clark, but it works.

    Link to Grizz's instructions.

Mummy bag conversion works - I have one of these.

Mikeinfhaz - he makes a mean quilt.

    Whoops, sorry, FishinFinn.
I just sent you a PM before I saw you posted this.
A member had those little Oompa Loompa pieces made so he could stuff them into this Clark pockets. I wonder how that went. But my Tropical2 doesn't have the full length of pockets that the NA and higher models have, so I would
think that would not be very effective.
TinaLouise said she made a full one, and I agree I would rather have that then the half or quarter ones.
    I'll check your links.
    Thanks again!

Lyndon, click on the link FishinFinn gave you for Grizz's instructions. Those are the main ones I used to help me figure out how I wanted to make my full length uq. Now granted I had a headache after trying to figure out the math, so I threw that out the window! But I got the gist of what he was saying (the pictures really helped)!! If you decide to make your own, just take your time with all the steps. The sewing of the baffles on mine ended up with me having to resort to hand sewing of short sections on the interior. I haven't put the down inside yet, trying to get up the nerve to tackle that part. The last time I worked with down, when I made my top quilts, I had down floating all over the house (somehow I even had it stuck to the outside of the house!!). Even my dogs had it stuck to their nose's!!
