    Post Figure 9s in SnakeSkins??

I've always put my guylines on my hammock (I had an HH Expedition w/stock postage stamp) and then wrapped the hammock in the tarp and rolled that in skins. I've since moved on to the JRB 11 x 10 Cat tarp, though, and use figure 9s on my guylines (no knots!) and dutch flyz on my tarp lines. I was wondering if it's ok to be wrapping up the figure 9s into the snakeskins with the guylines and tarp. Does anybody else do this? Do you take off the guylines each time? I keep the guylines connected to the tarp via a bowline loop-to-girth hitch, so in theory it wouldn't be hard to do this each time. I'm just not sure whether the sil would get punctured by the figure 9s. Maybe I'm overthinking it here - but I just don't want to ruin my awesome new JRB tarp, or my skins.

I have been rolling mine up with figure 9's in my snakeskins since September. I will have to be honest though... I cringe a bit each time I do it but so far I can find no damage to my tarp. I can not promise you the same results though... I have found lately that I am tying a taut-line hitch more often that using my figure 9's (they truly are a pain in my opinion) so I am going to remove mine. In turn, I will not worry about rolling my tarp with my lines attached anymore. You may find that the fiddle factor with the figure 9's is not worth the worry as well. Hope this helps and Happy Hanging!

I would tend to agree that a taut-line is typically simpler (less weight as well) - but I like the appeal of using no knots in winter. I'll be testing it out this weekend. I was cringing the whole time I was putting those figure 9s into the skins!
