    yet another sleeping bag-underquilt mod....

Finally got around to modifying this Greatland 40* camo sleeping bag into an underquilt.....and decided I wanted to keep it useable as a sleeping bag.... basically I made segmented channels out of 2-1/4" flat webbing, and 4 suspension loops out of 1" flat webbing, the channels are for cinching at the ends, while the suspension loops are for the current bungee cords to hook into; I tested it in mid-high 40s temps yesterday, and was pretty comfortable without a top-quilt..... partly inspired by the DIY tutorial on this page; http://gear-report.com/how-to-make-a...-sleeping-bag/
but wanted to make sure no drafts at the ends, so added channels...

the nice thing is that since my Coleman sleeping bag's zipper fits this one, I can attach it to the camo UQ and put it under the hammock as a way to "stack" up the UQ and increase the warmth of it....
I'm not sure it needs shock channels along the long sides of it at the moment, since the way it's set up, the sides fold over into the hammock, and with the tension provided from the bungee cords, I did not feel any cold spots underneath....this also gave me a way to lay diagonally for comfort, and allowed me to have some form of ventilation should I zip it up into a pea-pod type of rig.. the bag is 72" long by 60" wide, so it's a good size, and basically gave me a full length UQ.

I'm in the process of thinking up a DIY UQ, thanks for the info. I really like your design.
