    Trouble with Nite-Ize Reflective Line?

Hey, all. I picked up some Nite-Ize reflective guy line for $3 in the clearance bin and thought I'd give it a shot. I much prefer Kelty Triptease (I'm old school and don't mind the extra weight/bulk) but this seemed pretty comparable. Anywho, all of the reflective tracer material has broken. It isn't coming out of the line, but it's created little exposed edges that play havoc on my bare hands. I'm using Linelocs and wonder if that's the culprit? Has anybody else has good/bad luck with this line, and will it cause damage to your tarp body when stuffed?

If I had to guess, I'd say it's the line locs. I've been using that line for a long time on my tarp, and had no issues. Besides the heavy weight, the reflective material worked really well. I was using small plastic figure 9's for tensioning before changing out to Lash It and line locs.

Another factor could be the degree you've been stretching them. I was also using shock cord tensioners, so that probably gave the line a little flexibility, besides keeping the tarp taut.

I just tie knots and haven't had issues with the cord.
    Thanks,

My linloc 3's definitely rip up the tracers in the nite-ize...doesn't seem to affect the performance or reflectiveness but I could see where it could rough up your hands a bit...I wouldn't worry about it messing up your tarp though

I had the same issue with mine after a few uses.

I replaced it with some MSR reflective line and have not had the same issue in well over two years of use.

I have had mine for 2 years with no trouble, but the reflectivity has gone. This past weekend with NEHHA my lines no longer glowed in the dark.
