    singer fashion mate 237?

Anyone know about this machine? I responded to someone on craigslist about it. Its in a cabinet and supposedly running. Its only $30 and someone else is interested but figured I would ask.

The Singer 237 was one of the last machines with all metal gears and considered a good machine. Straight stitch and zig zag...everything you need and nothing you don't. If it looks to be in good shape, buy it.

I have a 237k, not sure if it's the same machine but my grandmother used it making/repairing clothes and curtains as a small side business for years, my mum used it to make all her clothes until she had kids and now I'm using it for making hammocky stuff, it could do with a service but it has never had any serious issues other than the footpedal needing replaced a few years ago. For $30, buy it!!
