Thumbs up Best QUILT to double for the ground......

So I'm just amassing information at this point and Id like to go both ways if I want.
Who has the best pad attachment system for my neoair xlite.
Is there a difference between them?
Is it mostly a DIY situation... to add your own loops and shock cordage ect?
Seems like it might be difficult to keep your shoulders covered while ground dwelling......
    Thanks for any input.

I can't give you a full answer to your question of who makes the best pad attachment system for a quilt if you want to go to the ground. I can say that I have a 20* and a 40* from UGQ. They do have the loops built into the tarp already. They also give the option on a 55" wide quilt to make it easier to wrap around you if you are going to the ground. Many quilts you can buy at different lengths and widths to help cover your shoulders.

From reading other posts on here I would reach out to all of the vendors directly and see which one will be able to provide the best solution for you and your situation.

Yeah I was looking....staring really....at the flight jacket.
    Looks super nice.
so light and maybe the highest down fill Ive found so far.
Maybe some one else has tried it or whatever ......Ill keep digging though.

also man.....how low have you gone in your 40 ?
I was looking at that one hoping it might be a really good 3 season (but maybe to warm for summer).
What was your clothing system or underquilt setup?
    Just pickin your brain .

I have been able to get down into the low 30's with my 40* TQ. It helped that I had a full length 20* UQ. I did get a 40* Phoenix UQ for Christmas so I won't be pushing my 40* TQ that low next season. I bring lightweight Smartwool long underwear along when the temperatures are cooler. I also bring a Patagonia down sweater for lower temperatures as well. I tend to move around when sleeping and have found the sweater helps keep the drafts out when I sleep.

Enlightened Equipment's RevX quilts come with an adjustable strap system for this very purpose. I have one of his RevX TQs which I really like but I've never tried the strap system.

I have used my 20* Burrow from HG on in shelter, on a pad a couple of times. Temps were in the lower 40's so I overheated a couple of times. Didn't have any troubles. I like the room in the quilt. I snap it behind my neck and pull the drawstring down. I pull the sides up under me. You do have to be careful when rolling around or the cold air will come in. I am tall and thin so that may play into it. I started sleeping on my thermarest with my sleeping bag over my like a blanket (quilt) and after a few tries I decided it worked well. I have not been down below 30* using the quilt on the ground, just in the the hammock.

I use a EE prodigy X with an inflatable REI flash pad. Stays snug but loose enough for me to toss and turn.

    reassuring info guys.
    thanks.
I saw a photo of a mod where someone had strung some shock cord through some loops attached to the quilt and slipped the pad inside the bag and cord and it looked like it would work pretty well.
Was hoping someone had tried this.
Not sure if the enlighten equip has loops for cord or strap clips.

I just rechecked octothorpesarus post and I guess it has strap clips which seems better than loops and shock cord.

    +1 Enlightened Equipment

For hammock and ground Tim makes a really nice setup. Any quilt will work but EE had got the strap to pad thing dialed.
