Combining HG Burrow 20 and 50?

Just a brainfart, I recently became the proud owner of a secondhand, but next to new HG Burrow 20∘ and a ditto HG Incubator 20∘. As I tested them at -5 deg Celcius (roughly 22 deg F I believe...) I was not cold but certainly not toasty as well on the top. Then again, at +10 deg Celcius (40 deg F???) it was almost too warm.

At home I use a down 4 seasons blanket (comforter??) which in effect consists of two blankets, 1 thin, 1 thick, that can be buttoned together, the thin one being the summer blanket, the thick one for fall and spring, and both buttoned together for winter.

This system started me thinking, as the burrow is already equipped with snaps, maybe if I buy a burrow 50∘, have the guys at HG fit it with two way snaps, enabling both the top side of the snap as the bottom side of the snap to be clicked to other snaps, I could end up with a 4-season TQ system.

This make any sense? And any ideas on what the temp rate would be on a 20 deg and 50 deg burrow snapped together?

The TQ's will nest inside one another as made. I've done it a couple of times but found that it significantly reduces the space inside the footbox. It does work well in terms of cumulative insulation.

I used a 20* with a 40* and was overly warm in the 10* F temps. I would imagine that combo would easily go below 0* F.

Good to hear that the extra insulation will work. Regarding the snap system, I'm liking the features that the burrow provides with the possibility of opening up the footbox and being able to use the quilt as a blanket. If it were to snap together with a thinner TQ with the same system it could be used as a 4-season blanket as well...

I think I'm going to contact HG about this.

Old thread, but just what I was looking for. I was always a diehard sleeping bag user in the cold (single digits and lower) but I'm starting to think my 20 and 40° Burrow COMBINED would pack smaller than my sleeping bag along. I haven't tried it yet, but I think I will test it in the hammock today and also see how they pack.
