    Cinch buckle or dutch buckle

Am I missing something? I like the dutch buckle. But couldn't you do the same thing with cinch? What I'm asking, just hang the whoopie loop onto the webbing going thru the buckle?

Theres a big price difference between cinch and dutch buckle.

Make sense? Send thoughts...I'm not not that worried on the weight diff....just FYI. Going for function and price.

Finding a way to pass on a classic piece of Titanium Dutchbling?

Don't look for much help there Everyone should own a few peices....and probably will.

If weight isn't a parameter, then consider strength, function, status........oO shiny

Typically the Dutch buckle is meant to replace the Marlin Spike Hitch as a way to connect the whoopie sling to the webbing. The adjustable loop goes over the Dutch buckle as you mentioned.

The Cinch buckles are meant to be used with an all webbing suspension. A short continuous loop of amsteel connects the hammock to the cinch buckle which in turn connects and adjusts the webbing length.

The cost diifference is the titanium used for the Dutch buckle.

imho I think the question is why would you want the extra weight and expense of hardware when the marlin spike hitch is easier to tie than your hiking boots.

To each their own really. People like hardware for personal reasons. Two buckles only weigh 20 grams. They are more secure than a MSH as they eliminate the possibility of the amsteel slipping off the webbing and onto a regular toggle.

Yes, I believe you are missing something.

I just looked at the cinch buckles on my indoor setup and it's not going to work. Besides the cinch buckle being too narrow allowing a whoopie to easily slip off, the amsteel will be bearing on the relatively sharp edges of the metal and be prone to damage. The second way it could be done will have the whoopie wedged between the cinch and webbing, making it difficult to adjust while at the same time it will open the slider (think fall down go boom).

To correct some of the info in this thread, Dutch Buckles are aluminum, not titanium.

While I like most all things Dutch (and have a collection to prove it), I find the Dutch buckle slow to adjust and not something I want to try with gloves on. A MSH and toggle is my preferred method to use whoopie slings.
