6'6" and about 285. Looking for upgrade from my diy. Looking at wbbb xlc dbl vs hh safari deluxe. Any ideas on differences in the two. Likes dislikes? Is there another hammock I should be considering that I overlooked?

Other than the footbox on the bb I'm not sure of the differences, one you may have overlooked though is the dangerbird or thunderbird from dream hammocks.
My XLC is double layer 1.9/1.7 (custom) and is good for over 350lbs, loaded up with me and 2 dogs.
It has a super flat lay and the shelf, well, for me it's a must have now.
Previous to this I had been using a WBBB 1.7 double. Liked it very much but give the edge to the XLC having a bit more room to find the sweet spot.
The Safari was on my short list as was a Clark. Went for the WBBB because a deal popped up in the for sale forum. Had an HH or Clark been there, might have gone another route.
Dream Hammocks offers great customization options and the Thunderbird and Dangerbird are worth a look. You can spec various materials, lengths, options, what's not to love.
And while I'm at it, the Wilderness Logics I tried at a geoup hang was pretty dang comfortable.
See where this is going? It's a journey not a destination.
My brother in law at 6'4" / 300 was comfortable in an XLC but still prefers his mammouth 13' hammock.
I like the options with thunderbird. Who makes the 13 footer? Or a 12?
13' was a diy 156" tablecloth
4-5 yards of ripstop will cost you maybe $30
Dream Hammock DangerBird or ThunderBird, WBBB XLC, Wilderness Logic Lite Owl or Night Owl, BIAS Hammocks, wow, and plenty more for you to check out. If you can attend a local hang and try out some hammocks, you will be one step ahead on the decision making. Good luck to you.
"No whining in the woods"
Im really liking the thunderbird. Is the wbbb xlc net also removable? How bout how well different tarps n stuff work with different hammocks? Ie does the superfly work with anything you hang under it?
Yes, the XLC net can be removed.
Yep, the superfly will work just fine with other hammocks, it's all about the ridge line length of the tarp and the length of the hammock.
I have liked my eno DN I have not had any problems with it. And it has been comfortable for me. Just my $.02
