Got my Old Man Winter rain fly (Christmas gift from wife,-- who may use it as much as I do, since it has doors and gives privacy all year).
I really like it, ... but I've already started modifying it. I can't help myself!
I removed the straps-clips-and-grommet assemblies and substituted a simple loop of Kelty Trip-tease reflective cord. Lighter. Simpler. Nothing to break. And no grommet to slip off the pole (which happened to me the first night as my back bumped against the underneath side).
The cord also makes it easy to hold the doors back/open, too. Just slip it off the pole, through the door grosgrain loop, and back onto the pole. Pics below. Although I'm already thinking of a simpler way using my shepherd's hooks tent stakes. The poles really give a lot of extra room underneath the rain fly.
I'm thinking of modifying my own modification, which shock cord in lieu of the Trip-tease.
