Spreading apart a gathered end hammock

I'm going to try putting a 6 inch spreader bar at the end of my DIY hammock tonight when i get home and i'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what kind of difference i'll see in feel/comfort.

I'm basically just taking a piece of 6 inch plastic and running a continuous loop thru the hammock and then on both ends of the bar to my aluminum ring. Material i'm using is black delrin (what i had laying around at work) and doesn't weigh much. I'll post some pics when i get home and get it all together but for now i'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this and has any insight.

    Thanks!
    John

What are you trying to achieve by spreading the gathered end?
Do you have calf ridge pressure?
    Not laying flat enough?

Not really having any problems at the moment, but i read a thread here saying that changing the Claytor suspension from a webbed strap to whoopie sling would make the calf ridge pressure a little more noticeable. I haven't noticed any issues, but i figured i could give it a try.

It does seem like the spreader bars on his are inside the channel where mine are going to be outside the channel and very easily removable if i choose not to take them along.

The pics are there on mine? There are pages of info on the development of Redoleary's Mini Spreader Bar with input, advances and options from many. I use a set of wooden MSBs on my full timer and love them.

You're right, they show up on my phone. My idea is a little simpler and removable :-)
