    Channel options

For the channel of a gather end hammock, what to use?

Continuous Loop, Dog bone or just thread the Whoopie sling through it?

    Your thoughts.

I like to use CL, but have a DIY with woopies. My main concern for woopies connected directly to the hammock is they get exposed to rain. While they don't hold much water, I just don't like they idea of packing them up with the hammock. I just prefer keeping the suspension separate. The CLs with the diamond knot end from Myerstech are quite versatile, I use them for the becket hitch, but you could connect them to a whoopie sling.

Continuous loop on most of mine. And I find them most convenient.

I tried dog bones on an ENO doublenest when I was trying to learn about hang angles, ridgelines, etc. It worked great because although it's a 9'6" hammock, the tree spacing could approximate a true camping hammock. Since then, all of my fleet of hammocks have continuous loops - some spliced into the channels, and some simply lark's headed onto the hammock.

Depending on their length, dog bones can be challenging when hanging from trees that are a bit close together.
Whoopies will generally limit you to that one suspension option.
I prefer CLs as well for the flexibility.

I use a continuous loop and put a ring on it for a rain break and connection to the suspension method de jour. I started with the larger rings provided by some of our hammock cottage industry folks, but then found www.slingrings.com and now use their smallest size.

@cougarmeat loves his CLs, that's why he put a ring on it.

Well, one of my adventure partners says, "It's like you're married to your hammock." I guess. We do sleep together.
