    Summer or Winter?

A bit of cross posting going on here, but since I'm looking at these specific UQs I'm hoping some of you guys can help. Here's my ORIGINAL THREAD
Thinking about using one of Marty's Summer UQs for mild winter camping down around the freezing & supplementing with one or 2 JRB evazote 1/4 pads. Any of you ever gone this route? Or should I just go for his 15 degree winter UQ and figure something else out for summer camping? Looking to stay as light as possible and still get the job done.
FWIW, slept fine in mid 50s last week with just the two JRB 1/4" pads fanned beneath me so I guess I'm neither a hot or cold sleeper.

I used mu 3/4 length 0° Hammock Gear Pheonix all summer with no issues. Also used it last winter down to -27°.
One quilt solution that works for me.

That said if your average temps wont be below 15° go for a 20° and you will be fine.

Pads are lighter than uq in summer weather. In fall, no weight difference.

Do you like pads? They open up the hammock and reduce shoulder squeeze for me. They do great in really bad weather. Use them if you like them and save $$$.

I've liked the JRB pads you referred me to just fine. However strapping them to the outside of the pack is a little cumbersome. With 30 the average low I will be hanging it looks like I'd need to carry them as well as a full summer quilt vs having to only pack the 20 degree 3/4 length in those conditions. However I expect I'll be using it a lot in 50 degree shoulder conditions as we'll and worry that the winter UQ may be too warm.
