    Fabric choices

I'm looking at my first hammock which is the DH thunderbird. I'm wanting a double layer and Im trying to figure out which material is best for the inside and outside. Which is more durable and which is more comfortable nylon vs polyester. I'm thinking the 1.1 black nylon on the outside and 1.8 orange nylon on the inside.

I got the 1.8 night-grid camo on the outside and the 1.8 olive on the inside. Both are taffeta and it feels really great on the skin and breaths well.

I just picked up some 1.8 camo from diy supply that a friend told me about, we are both big guys and wanted something strong as well as durable, i was blown away, this fabric is very very soft and at $3.85 a yard it is a great deal, it only comes in acu camo and the website pic does not really show it well , but imo i think that you would be very happy with this for both layers

I have the Thunderbird also with the night grid camo on the outside and the coyote 1.0 on the inside with the coyote top cover. Lovin those colors, but the olive with the night grid is nice too. I'd go with a lighter weight olive for the inside layer though. Just my $.02 for what it's worth.

The crinklle taffetta is very nice and very comfortable, but heavy. I had a DangerBird with a double layer of it, and it was a sweet hammock, but big and bulky. I sold it and now I have the ThunderBird from the night grid camo which I think is 1.8 and the coyote 1.0, and it is very comfortable and lighter.

Yep, my mistake. Corrected post. The night-grid and the olive both come in 1.8. Mine is the night-grid outside and the olive inside w/ olive over-cover. Super comfy and no doubt it will hold a "husky fella" like me.

-- side note, I'm moving from a tarptent notch (gram-wheenie) and even though I went with the double layer 1.8 in an 11 ft . . . it still packs nice and compact and doesn't feel heavy at all.

    Re: Fabric choices

I'm planning on the 10ft 1.1 outside and 1.8 inside Im only 5' 10" or so and barely 120 so weight capacity is not a major factor. Also this will be carried on my motorcycle so it's weight is not major but the smaller it packs the more other stuff I can bring. I'm now debating on colors. Either black on the outside and orange on the inside or acu camo on the outside and black inside.

Went with the 10ft thunderbird 1.9 acu outside and 1.1 black inside with cinch buckles... I think I'll like that setup alot. I hope so at least

Good choice. Thunderbirds really are the best of both worlds.

I like the ACU here's a shot of my Dream Hammocks no T-Bird.

And Love the Nite Grid Camo
