Great video! I just started looking into making a bridge hammock a few days ago and this answered a lot of questions! Thank you! Next on the to do list for sure.

Would be awesome if dutch started to carry these rather than custom make them... super handy piece of hardware for sure!
Yeah I've seen other methods, but they always seem too complicated. This just was a no brainer
Thanks for the comment! Grizz's method does work, and is an easy solution. In my experience (and weight) I just felt it wouldn't last too long.... but it does work! Dutch bling is just so hard to resist!
maybe just a little here and there
Good luck!

Real nice video hikingdad! Great results! Congrats!
I suggest that this be moved to the DIY stickies as it is very well done. Your method for endcaps is great, it is as easy as the method that Hangnout shared a while back. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Edit: I was on my phone trying to respond to a different post

Love it. I can actually visualize making one now. My wife wanted one, and wasn't sure I would be able to make one in a reasonable amount of time.
A couple thoughts: Want to post the image for the dimensions here for ease of copying? Video compression makes it a little rough to read.
And any chance for a part 3: attaching a bugnet?
Wonderful job! This actually seems doable now. If you make a double layer to allow for a pad, how exactly do you go about that? I'm sure you don't need end caps for both layers.
One can also make the suspension triangle as 1 piece of amsteel. I don't see an advantage to making two dog bones for each suspension side. Using the the one long piece for both sides, saves two fixed eye splices and saves a couple of grams with the amount of cord saved.
I like how you did the end caps. It is a rather easy method that doesn't require much in the way of cutting and sewing like doing end caps as separate pieces.
I am larger guy as well and I made my 2 DIY bridge hammocks out of the polyester crinkle taffeta tablecloth material. Came out rather well, in my opinion.
Cheers
Brian
