How thick shock cord for guying out?

I am certain that if I can guy out the sides of my hammock I'd get a better hang, and I'm not a huge fan of swaying. What size shock cord can I use to get a reasonably tight hang?

I plan to use river stones/little rubber balls and cordage (550/amsteel) from the hammock, and then shock cord, and then more cordage at the stake.

I like 1/8" for just about everywhere I use it. I think the more important issue is the quality and stretch factor (ie. 50%). I purchased 1/8" from two different sources. One was really nice and tight, the other had a very rough, "dry" texture to it and felt very weak. Sorry but I cannot remember the sources. I guessing the good one was from Zpacks though.

Sorry I just noticed we're talking guy lines - so something heavier than 1/8" for this. Personally I don't use any for that.

I used 3/32" doubled on the 4 corners of my Superfly and it stays nice and tight.

You can also use the Theraband exercise tubing if shock cord isn't robust enough.

The guy lines on the side of my HH appear to be 3/16" (so between 1/8 and 1/4) shock cord but they do not keep the hammock from swaying. It will still swing and move in a breeze or when I get in/out.

I don't mean to stop it. I know you shouldn't try to completely; the hang tends to jerk in winds. But I do want to lessen it. I've read guying out with shock cord can do that. And, again, I'd like to flatten the lay a bit.
