New Appalachian Hammock on its way

Just ordered my second Appalachian Hammock this one a DL Custom for the wife. Mine is an AH original. The Price, extra long size (11' x 60'' ) and being a Double-Layer so she could stuff a wool blanket or pad under her was a sure win.

I reached out to Ryan and Kyle at AH, who were great working with on a special order for a suspension less hammock. my last one was delivered in less than a week.

Hey Talox,(not sure if you wanted us to use your name lol)

Glad to hear your enjoying your Original AH Hammock. Wanted to let you know that your wife's DL Custom will be shipping out this afternoon. Out of curiosity, What do you have planned for the DL's suspension?

We love to hear from customers like yourself, and hope you AND your wife enjoy hammocking for years to come.

I have been experimenting with straps & dutchware cinch buckles or whoopee slings and tree straps. Currently I prefer the cinch buckles as they make setup super easy and no need for beaners. Since neither my wife or I are backpackers the extra bulk and weight are not an issue.

for the hammock I built a 108 " SRL out of amsteel secured to the hammock with a larks head where the chainlink exits the channel. This allows me a nice flat lay.

I made 2 modifications to the stuff sack. 1st was to use a piece of Amsteel to replace the drawcord and second added a grommet to the bottom of the bag which one of the chainlink and buckle extends from. Similar to a Bishops bag. I would have sewn it instead of using the grommet but don't own a sewing machine and my sewing skill leave a lot to be desired. hopefully it ont pull out it it does i'll find a tailor.

I am enjoying the hammock almost daily currently just in the back yard But i am planning an outing for 12/6 once my quilts and tarps arrive. and hoping to join one of the local hammock hangs up here.

i'm lucky enough to have a state park as a neighbor so i have a lot of trees to chose from. But they do not allow camping in the park.

Hopefully the images are viewable, I just created a new album for sharing these.

I strongly suggest putting another wrap or two of the continuous loop around the cinch buckle to keep it centered. Off center as shown causes uneven loading of the webbing and an increased risk of strap failure.
